Message to a Survivor
To the other survivors out there. You are worth more than you realize. You are strong, and you are beautiful. Always remember that. You have the strength to get away from a situation, you just have to make the choice. Never look back.
Message of Healing
Healing takes time. It doesn’t take a day, a week, or a month. It takes years and years to heal after being treated like shit.
I am a victim of domestic violence. 4 out of the 5 relationships I was in through high school til I was about 24, every last one of them was emotional/mental abuse. I would get called names, like dumb ass or stupid. They would look at me in disgust because of what I looked like. I got sent to the hospital one year because I wanted to be skinny by not eating all day. One of my exes would’ve grabbed my stomach and laughed because I had extra weight than he did. Another ex would argue with me over something stupid. He wouldn’t let me hang out with friends. I was single for four years because I didn’t want to feel that pain again. But when I read It Ends with Us, and saw the movie, I was brought to tears because I felt that pain back. There is a happy ending though. My current relationship now, he is the light of my life, he treats me like a queen, he treats me the way someone is supposed to be treated. I never want to go back there again.
